We are now officially done with GIMP assignments...We are now moving on to something with a little more motion. It is good to get up every once and while and move about. Of course, being an IT Class we are going to do it using technology. We will be heading down to the XBox studio for some Olympic Competition. The full assignment is posted below. Basically the week will look like this:
Sunday - Discussion of project, outline of expectations and goals. Work on Blogs, prepare yourselves.
Monday - Wednesday will be the competition. Round Robin, each team plays each team once per day.
Thursday - Working on Blogs...getting everything sorted for the week
Sunday (the week after) - Discussion of data analysis
Monday - Number crunching and graphs
Tuesday - Thursday (to be announced)
As usual, 3 blogs this week. If you wish to do a Vlog, you will have to do it on Sunday or on your own time (the lab is always open).
So we now came to the last week of GIMP (although it may pop up again soon as part of a new unit). The projects are posted and you know what needs to be done. Everything is due Friday, so work hard and let's see who wins the chance to have their desktop seen by the student body.
This weeks blogs are pretty straight forward. Since they are tied in with the projects, there won't be a chance for Vlogs this week.
So, this is the last week for our little GIMP assignments. I had a few more but I getting the feeling that this is getting a little long in the tooth. We have but three more little assignments and then the projects. I have a feeling that the projects may actually take less time than some of the assignments. Regardless, your work for the week is:
The projects will be due on the 28th of February. They should be equal to a significant amount of work. Trying to blast through a project in a day may not be the best idea since these projects carry significant weight in the Quarter. Put some love into it, be creative and enjoy the process.
*Note - I will be posting the project outline and rubric around Wednesday
Here is the project document and the rubric I will use to grade each one (I will try to actually give those back to you after).
Again, three blogs this week (or 1 and 1 with a vlog)
I have to say that I am very impressed with a great deal of the great deal of work that everyone is producing. It is nice to see some use of tools outside of the classroom too. Really, if you only use much of what you learn to just get the assignment over with, then what is the point, right? Of course, some of the assignments are not really applicable outside of tech class but you never know, someday you may find that you will need to edit or create something.
So this wee we will continue to work on the assignments, I think we have 2 more weeks or so. After that we will have the projects. I have a few in mind but will let you choose a couple options for it.
For those on the MUN trip, remember:
The blogs are continuing to improve. I do like the deeper blogs (even though a few of you skip it by doing the Vlog...are you scared of the question, or just the answer?)
So I am writing this blog a few weeks before I post it, so it might be weird if I miss something. I hope the few classes without me there went well and you didn't have too man issues with the workload. I will be gone Sunday and Monday this week as well but I should be back (exhausted but alive) on Tuesday. Same thing for this week, blogs and GIMP.
Easy blogs this week, maybe.
I am not sure if you enjoyed the deeper question (as I write this before I see the results) but we will try another one.
