This is it everyone, a long 10 week Quarter coming to a close. I didn't this year could go any faster but it has. I think this has been a fantastic Quarter with you picking up a great deal of new tools. I am extremely happy to see a bunch of you using them outside of IT as well. They will only get easier to use and more useful if you keep playing with them. Great job everyone.
So, this week is only 3 days long. There are now blogs this week (I want to be done with my grades before the break). Keep working on your SketchUp assignments and projects. Remember, you need to show them to me before end of class on Tuesday.
This week is the start of the latest in independent assigns, leaving you the opportunity to move at your own pace. You have deadlines but I will mark assignments as you go. Remember, there are 3 main assignments and a selection of "Bonus" assignments for you to choose your fourth and fifth one from. Make sure to manage your time wisely. This unit is finished on the last day of the Quarter. You need to be able to show me your work in class, so make it count.
So this week we are going to start up the final unit of Quarter 3. We are look at another multi-stage unit with a lot of creativity, small assignments and a final project. I really liked the way the GIMP stuff worked out and the self-paced, independent lessons seemed to allow for far superior work than I expected.
This unit is on Google SketchUp Move. This is all about 3D design work. Without a doubt you will see in the next few years that printing in 3D is normal. You will have one in your home. It is just to easy. So let's embrace it. Let's get in on ground level and look into the world of 3D design. This week will be an intro week, with a few little walk through lessons and some discussion. I am excited to have been able to upgrade the computers enough to be able to handle the requirements and hope that it is an fun and challenging unit for you.
Sunday - Finish OneNote Assignment
Monday to Thursday - SketchUp Intro (Go to InfoTech folder, copy the Intro SketchUp files, and run them from your computer)
Did you want to earn those extra 5% on the upcoming assignments? If you do, then you can start working on the assignments below...each one can earn up to 5% on the future assignments. We can pick up to 4 of these to earn up to 5% on the assignments coming next week.
Last week was a blast. Great competition, improved skills and some interesting outcomes. I really enjoyed the start to this unit. Now we have the work that goes with it.
We will be spending a couple days looking at Excel and how it can be used to take a look at organizing numbers. It is a simple thing, but it can be applied to a lot of interesting things. It isn't hard but you need to see how it works.
Sunday - Building your spreadsheet
Monday - Pivot tables
Now, that was only a couple days and it wasn't much. I just wanted to give you a taste of what you can do with Excel but I also wanted a break from the classroom. For the next three days we are going to be looking into a Microsoft tool (sorry Mac users, you can only access this from the web). This will be a great tool for University and maybe even the rest of the year if you needed to.
Tuesday - Intro to OneNote
Wednesday - Building Notebooks
Thursday - Completing Notebook assignemnt
Same plan as before...
