At this point in the school year (and really High School) you probably have figured out that I have high expectations for you. It may feel like IT gives fairly easy grades and many of you have said that the class asks the most consistent work out of you. However, I am not sure you realize how far you have come. A lot of what you are learning you don't see because you are in the middle of learning/using the information. I can tell you, watching you grow and learn has been incredible. You are doing more than I think you realize.
As simple as Minecraft is, what have already learned is this:
Increased eye-hand coordination. Even the most untrained in this method of movement has already easily mastered it. I wish you could see what your brain is doing
Huge collaborative and communicative improvements. You miss half the conversations that are going on while you are task focused, but let me tell you, this is a HUGE change. It is very impressive
Problem solving through the roof. You should see how fast you organize your groups and plan solutions. It is just amazing.
All of this with a little simple game. Bravo!
This wee we will try a little fun. I think we will attempt both the obstacle course (more eye-hand and spacial awareness) and the Hunger Games (societal and communication skills). I am really looking forward to this.
A single blog this week:
Digital Citizenship is made of Nine Elements (Click HERE for a list). Which of the nine do you see the most involved with a game like Minecraft and why is that important?
