Okay, so we have a tiny project...one day thing, maybe two. I want this to be a thoughtful idea. It ties in directly into digital citizenship. I want to ask you, Who are you? Really. Who are you as a person, as an individual? What makes you unique and special. We are all different and have a different persona. Well, that is a hard question that you would think. SO what we are going to is build a simple about.me site. Mine is HERE.
You do not have to use a picture of yourself by any means. I am not saying you should or have to. This is a simple page describing who you are. I want you to think sign up, think carefully and create a page. Link it to your home page on Weebly. However, please do not share your twitter, facebook, etc accounts on it unless you are 100% aware that people will see that. I recommend not doing it because there are trolls out there. We can talk about that later. Fundamentally the choice is yours.
I would like to say that I am doubly impressed y the blogs this last week. Some of you are really starting to put more of your own voice into the writing. That is an extremely important skill to have and will do you a great deal of good in the future. I recommend reading Ali's blog on Wednesday's unfortunate events. Well done Ali.
Also after reading the things you would like to learn in semester two I am very happy to say that many people are looking in the same direction that I was. Here are a few of the ideas I had for us and you can see how well they were lined up with many of yours.
Photoshop and image editing/creation. We would be using the free online application called GIMP, which is almost identical to Photoshop.
Film editing. We will be using Movie Maker Live (sorry iMovie fans) which is also a free application for PCs. We will doing a project called "A Day in the Life"
3D design work. We will be using Google Sketch Up, free and super fun to mess with. It is for architecture and for video game level design
Calemeo. An app which can turn publications you make into downloadable iOS apps...very cool.
Prezi (some of you know his one) because there have been updates and it makes for ridiculously cool presentations.
Multi-Player gaming....Quake 3 arena most likely. Can anyone say frag fest?
So, as you can see we have many things on our plate. What we start with I can't say. We still have 2 days to work on the Green Living (I know it is going waaaaay too long and you are all getting bored. I will plan better in the future I promise). The notes are due Tuesday and we will be taking the test on Thursday (hopefully).
The blogs this week.
1 on Goal Setting. Now that Semester 1 is done, what do you see yourself doing differently to stay ahead of grades, work, etc.
1 Google Reader linked article. Remember, you own words on the summary please.
1 on a project we will be working on (or another on Green Living if you want)
1 on technology (anything tech related, and could be another Google reader article)
